The game epic plot unfolds over the course of four years, making AO storyline perhaps the largest of any game to date. However, as your character is only a minute piece of this grand scheme, you are free--within the limits of your chosen profession--to act as you please.
Set in the fictional planet Rubi-Ka, and its extra-dimensional twin Anarchy Online is a MMORPG developed by Ranger Torques. There are numerous characters where players can choose from, four species with two genders and 14 different professions. Game play is unique because there is no plot or linear play. There are numerous ways in playing with subplots, a player may choose to align themselves with Omitted Corporation, with rebel clans or just go neutral. Game play is not based on one race or one corporation gaining the upper hand against the other but in improving one skills and experience. The ultimate character level is set at 220; this could be reached by gaining experience points by killing enemies or acquiring items. Experience could also be gained through researching and developing skills for each class of character. 220 are the maximum level for each player but the final 20 is known as shadow levels. The shadow levels are only obtained when a character is to permanently commit to a side.
Players can go at it alone but there is also an option for team play. This may do through small temporary teams, through alliance or a combination. PVP or Player Vs Player is also available; it can be done through clan wars or alliance or through team vs. team.
